Step 1: Creating an account on Gigs4five
To get started, you will need to have an account in Gigs4five. Here is an link. Go to Gigs4five and sign up for your free account.
Once you land on this page, click on the link ‘becomes a seller’ at the top right corner. You will be prompt to fill up your email, username and password. Be sure to choose your best username as that username will be the name that will appear to your potential buyer.
Once you sign up, a link will be sent to your email for activation. Go to your email inbox based on the email you previously used to activate your account.
Once you have successfully activated your account, it is time to move on to the next part of the setting up process.
Step 2: Creating your profile
Your profile is one of the contributing factor to your potential sales. Think about this, whenever you shop online, the one thing you will do is browse through the online store to check if the shop is well established. The more details they have, chances of you buying from that online shop is greater. It applies the same here. Having a complete profile helps build credibility and trust.
From your homepage, hover your mouse over to your username where you will see a drop-down menu. Click on ‘my profile.
Once you click on the link. A page that look like the one below will appear.
There are lots of details that you can fill up. Though it is optional, the more you provide, the better it will be. You can disregard the ‘create a gig’ part for now as that can be done later after you complete your profile.
Updating your profile
- Photo: It is important to have a photo. As the freelance service is through the net, a photo will help in building trust. Depending on the service you are providing, the type of photos can vary. If you are providing a professional service such as bookkeeping or legal advice, a professional looking photo would be advisable. But a creative and fun looking photo would be amazing if you chose to provide a service which requires creativity like logo design.
- Languages: Gigs4five attracts clients from all over the world. Updating the list of languages you know will help potential buyer to choose if you are suitable for the job. Even if you know it at the most basic level, state it in your profile as well.
- Skills: List down all the skills you are good at. HTML? CSS? Programming? Accounting? Photoshop? Microsoft? Whatever it is, list your skills down and state the level of experience you have with it.
- Description : : This is where you get to share about yourself. Talk more about what have you been doing, what are your background, your experience you have and how will you help add value to potential seller. Note that this is not the part where you talk about your gig as you can share more on the gig in the gig page later on.
Step 3: Creating your first proposal on Gigs4five
You are almost 50% through! Now comes the tough part. Not exactly tough if you know what you plan to do. If you have a gig idea, then get started immediately but if you do not, go to the home page and browse through a list of other gigs to search for inspiration.
Once you found a gig that you want to sell, go back to the same page you update your profile and click on ‘create a proposal It will bring you to this page
Then click on add new proposal where you can begin filling up your gig details.
There are a few things you need to fill up. The first part is the name is your proposal. Basically, state what service are you trying to provide. Go straight to the point so the potential customer is clear immediately when they see the gig. Here is a dummy gig I have created. In this dummy gig, I will be providing logo design service. The second part would be the category, this will help your gig to be found when the buyer filter through the category tab.
Third part would be the tags. Tags is what you want to buyer to type in the search box to find your gig. Note that you are not allowed to repeat the same word a multiple times.
Step 4: Pricing your gig
Here comes the tricky part. As a first timer, you will have a tough time figuring out how to price your proposal. What I would do is search up for other sellers who are selling the similar service and use it as a benchmark, usually charging slightly lower or increasing the level of service.
You are almost done with the gig creation. This part is where you can describe your gig to your potential customer. Tell them what your gig all about is, what it includes and why they should use your service. In short, make your sale pitch in this section.
With that existing service you provide for each package, state the price you would offer to your potential buyer. And here comes the fun part again where you can increase your potential revenue.
If you scroll to the bottom, you will see ‘My Gig Extras’. This is where you can increase your revenue by tweaking and providing add-on options to your potential buyer.
Step 5: Communicating your gig to the buyer
You are almost done with the gig creation. This part is where you can describe your gig to your potential customer. Tell them what is your gig all about, what it includes and why they should use your service. In short, make your sale pitch in this section.
Step 6: Communicating your gig to the buyer
The next part, is to state what is required from the buyer part when they make a purchase to help ease your work. You may request for as much details as you need.
You should also identify the potential question that the buyer might ask and address it in this column. This helps to answer certain concerns that the buyer may have. However, you can always opt to add in more FAQs after your first few sales and knowing what are the common questions that the buyer usually ask.
Click save and move on to uploading photos to your landing page. You can also film a video to describe your gig. Videos help increase your chances of getting clients.
Once you are done with that, you may move on to publishing the gig. Congratulations!! You are done creating your very first gig.
Finally, wait for the admin to approve your proposal after that you done.
